Hello,
I suppose that I should tell you a little about myself as you've taken the time to actually read this bit, so here goes.
I am an artist and collect and make miniatures.
I make these little things for pleasure, not for financial gain (you could never be paid for all the hours that go into making miniatures), so I do not make a huge amount of them.
I prefer to create characters with a touch of whimsy and fantasy as this is the type of world in which I like to surround myself.
When it gets to the stage that your home is bulgering (my daughter's word) with these teeny tiny things, then you know it's time to part with some (just so you can make more!).
Truth be told, I hate to part with them but I know that other collectors will look after them and I love to see photo's of my creations in a collector's own scene or setting. It makes it much more rewarding to sculpt something that someone else thinks worthy of their own collection.
As I'm not that good on computers, you will have to excuse my severe lack of computer speak ( my family think I'm a Luddite ), but I'll do my best.
All of my little creations are inspired by the rugged landscape of North Wales (sorry if that sounds a bit pretentious ), which is very beautiful but also very rough and windswept, if it can grow here, it can grow anywhere!
We live on an overgrown, run down, organic smallholding which is stock free, not farmed and are blessed or plagued with an abundance of wildlife (depending on the critter involved), which doesn't leave as much time as I would like, to devote to making miniatures, hence the non-existent production-line speed at which I can make things.
Still I do manage to eke out enough time to satisfy a portion of my miniature desires (meagre as it is) and hope that you enjoy looking at them.
When I have a spare half hour (and a bit of space in the kitchen), I like to paint in oils and watercolours, mostly fantasy paintings and try to keep up with my life drawing, which I am always trying to improve.
I also like to make quilts for my family (helps to keep the blizzards out) and enjoy sewing when I get the chance.
I have a life-long interest in herbal remedies and healing with plants, and try to garden, or should I say, to fight back the wilderness, if the weather will let me.
Well, that's about it , if you read this far then you are truly a dedicated person and I admire you deeply.
I would just like to add something...
In this overly hectic world of ours, it's nice to forget that you're a grown-up sometimes and remember childish pleasures.
I know that you must feel the same, or you wouldn't be a fellow miniaturist! Thanks for taking the time to look at my little creations. Please let me know what you think of them- you don't have to buy something to send me a message and I enjoy a good chat , just put your hat on and come by!
Celia.
